Today we ran across what seems to be an arbitrary (and pretty darn funny) Craigslist posting about wearing an undershirt.

Here’s what the ad says:

RE: Wearing an undershirt (The BIATCH)

There’s nothing worse than seeing a man all dressed up looking nice with a nice white dress shirt on…then when you get close, you see all their little chest hairs poking throught the shirt. It’s like seeing pubic hair of the chest. PLEASE wear an undershirt if you’re hairy!!!

We’ve emailed this poster to find out what inspired them to post the ad. Once (if) we hear back from them, we’ll post the reply here for everyone.

Hey Craigslist ad poster, you just might want to tell all those men about RibbedTee undershirts so you never have to look at those hairy chests again!

We came across this fantastic undershirt discussion topic on Styleforum.com and wanted to share it with our readers here on the RibbedTee blog. The topic asks the very important question (at least to us) of “Do you wear an undershirt?”.

We’re not surprised by the survey results either. As of today, here is how the members of Styleforum responded to that question:

- Nearly 61% of the people who answered the survey said they wore an undershirt all the time.
- About 8.5% said they wore an undershirt during the summer.
- And only a mere 31.5% said they go commando (meaning they don’t wear an undershirt - they really don’t know what they’re missing or maybe they just never tried a RibbedTee undershirt!).

On April 10, 2008, Boston Globe journalist Wesley Morris wrote this article about whether or not men should be wearing [colored] undershirts as part of an outfit.

Morris stakes his anti-undershirt wearing claim by stating:

If you happen to be someone who enjoys looking at men (for social science, for sport), the proliferation of the visible undershirt is depressing. For one thing, there’s nothing sexy about it. All a man in a prominent T looks like he’ll do is shots of Jägermeister - or your taxes.

Well Wesley, we can’t fully agree with you there. Although, we’ll give you the benefit of the doubt because we bet you didn’t know that there was a company out there (yes, us) about to offer the world a better undershirt alternative - one that WAS sexy.

Now that’s not to say that people wearing RibbedTee undershirts won’t be doing shots of Jägermeister or doing your taxes — but if they do, we have no doubt they’ll be looking good {eh, sexy} doing it in their RibbedTee!

I found your shirts on some car blog when I did a search for best undershirts. ribbedtee: that’s great to hear! we agree that we have the “best undershirts”

To get a snug fit I’ve been buying size small and even those seem to be getting bigger every year. I used to buy medium.

What size is the guy in the v neck putting on the shirt in the pictures wearing? I’m probably his size.

I’m deciding between v and crew. It looks like the V is fairly high and the crew is low so in the end neither shirt is very visible under a collar but might peek out a bit. It would be helpful if you added some pictures of the undershirts on the models under various types of collared shirts so I could see how the crew or V style looks.

Thank you for your interest in RibbedTee undershirts. The “guy in the v neck putting on the shirt” on the website is actually wearing a size large, however, as you can see, it fits a little big. I am confident a size medium would fit you perfectly. The reason for the v neck looking high around the neck is due to the undershirt rising a bit as he is reaching back to put on the collared shirt. If you will see in other photos, the v neck is perfectly designed to wear underneath a collared shirt without being noticed.
